New incentives to carpooling for MixMyRide users in Ticino and Winterthur-Zurich

From 7 November 2023, a new incentive scheme will be available to MixMyRide users in Canton Ticino and agglomeration Winterthur-Zurich.

The City of Lugano has in fact decided to support MixMyRide and its users in Ticino by covering expenses for carpooling rides, for a total amount of up to 5’000 CHF: for carpooling rides booked via MixMyRide in Ticino, the City of Lugano will reward carpooling drivers with a 15 LVGA (0.15 CHF) incentive per kilometer of performed carpooling ride.

The same amount of money per carpooling kilometer, for a total amount of up to 2’500 CHF, will be granted to the carpooling drivers in the agglomeration Winterthur-Zurich, funded by the project budget. In this case, incentives are granted via Migros or Coop vouchers and only attributed if by the end of the project (February 29, 2024) the driver achieves a 10 CHF minimum incentive credit.

Carpooling drivers will therefore receive a monetary contribution. Carpooling riders will get free carpooling rides, with no need for paying drivers. And both drivers and riders will help reduce traffic congestion, decarbonise mobility, and, in the case of Ticino, support the local economy by using LVGA. MixMyRide: what else?

Have a look at the press release by the City of Lugano. And please, note: the incentive is only paid for actually performed carpooling rides, booked via MixMyRide. It is not attributed to offered rides that are not included in carpooling trip bookings between MixMyRide users. The incentive regulations are available on the MixMyRide website in the Information Sheet – Terms and conditions page and in the FAQs (questions 28-33 at the bottom of the page).
